CHANGE IS ON THE WAY
For the first time in over 30 years South Tyneside is experiencing a borough wide move to unify the opposition to the ruling Labour group. Increasingly people in the borough are demanding that their elected representatives put the interests of local people before national party politics. People want more openness and accountability in the decision making process and are sick and tired of the present system that allows only a handful of people in the Labour group to make decisions that affect us all. Sadly these decisions are often made in secret and behind closed doors!

Unfortunately any debate in the council chamber and committee rooms is very limited as all of the members of the Labour Group tow the party line and are not prepared to think for themselves and voice their own opinions. All too often these same people put self interest and their own pockets before the interests of the people of South Tyneside.
